Founded in 2009, Shama Basecamp was the realization of a profound vision by Major Kesar Singh, affectionately known as "Major Saab." More than just establishing a basecamp, he envisioned a place where the majestic beauty of the Himalayas could be shared, not merely observed. Major Saab's deep love for the mountains and the serene, resilient spirit of the local Kumaoni villagers inspired him to create a sanctuary where guests could truly connect with nature and immerse themselves in the authentic culture of the region.
